Description
Bebe was on the stage regularly by the time she was four, when she made her silent-film debut. Her first starring role in a movie was at age seven. BeBe was an accomplished actress, dancer and singer. She was a well known producer also. Daniels was the only woman to head her own unit at Paramount Studios, where she worked for five years choosing scripts while controlling casts and budgets . . . until the talkies.
BeBe starred as Dorothy in the 1910 silent film, Wonderful Wizard of Oz and played opposite Rudolph Valentino in Monsieur Beaucaire. She also appeared as Ruth Wonderly in the extremely controversial 1931, pre-code version, of The Maltese Falcon, which opened to rave reviews but was later banned.
Her last major starring role was in the 1933 musical 42nd Street, but BeBe was busy in the British film industry as actress and producer until 1960. From an original May 16, 1926 image by National Photo Company. All Rights Reserved © 2012 padre art
